Japanese researchers have made a significant breakthrough in the race to create 6G wireless networks by developing a new terahertz (THz) wireless communication system based on an optical microcomb. This system enables data transfer rates of up to 112 gigabits per second (Gbps) in the 560 GHz band. The developed technology overcomes the power and noise limitations of traditional electronics beyond 350 GHz and lays the foundation for future 6G networks and ultra-high-speed mobile backbone communications.
